The main stream of the researches on organic semiconductors has been to increase their carrier mobility by the control of their molecular aggregation states. The intension of this study is to control the carrier density of liquid crystalline semiconductors. We synthesized new liquid- crystalline ter[3,4-dioxythiophene] derivative which can be hybridized with ionic species to create complex compound based on nanosegregation between the liquid crystalline semiconductor and ionic species. This compound exhibits liquid crystal phase and reversible redox activity in a solution state. Because of the presence of a disiloxane chain, the temperature range of liquid crystal phase is remarkably lowered. Dioxyethylene groups reduce the oxidation potential of the compound and its cation radical state should be stabilized. Also, liquid-crystalline bis[3,4-dioxythiophene] derivative which shows a SmA phase was synthesized.
