Dielectric Constant under DC Bias Field of SmC^* in AFLC and FLC

Abstract

Dielectric dispersion of optically pure and partially racemized MHPOBC was investigated. In SmC_β^* of optically pure MHPOBC, a characteristic relaxation mode was observed in addition to the Goldstone mode. The experimental results show that the molecular orientational structure of SmC_β^* is not the same as the ferroelectric SmC^*, but as ferrielectric.
