Abstract
By the X-ray diffraction charts, bentonites from Kaminoyama, Yamagata Prefecture, are divided in the following four types, (i) montmorillonite, as essential mineral, with a little of zeolite (clino-ptilolite), plagioclase and cristobalite, (ii) zeolite with montmorillorite, plagioclase and cristobalite, (iii) zeolite with montmorillonite, plagioclase, cristobalite and orthoclase, (iv) montmorillonite and celadonite, with zeolite, plagioclase and cristobalite.
