Abstract
The writers had published the results of analysis of gas from many solfataras in Japan. In this experiment at the Kuju sulphur mine, they used copperphosphate as the absorbent for hydrogen sulphide gas instead of copperacetate and obtained the following results.
(1) More than 95% of solfataric gas of Kuju sulphur mine is steam like other solfataric gases.
(2) There is a tendency that the ratio of hydrogen sulphide to sulphur dioxide changes its value with the ratio of volcanic gas.
(3) But the temperature of solfatara does not show a clear relation with the ratio of volcanic gas.
(4) The ratio of hydrogen sulphide to sulphur dioxide shows a characteristic value in each district.
(5) Their study has shown that the present method at this mine recovers only several percents of sulphur.
