The mode of occurrence and mineralogical properties of wairakites from Haga, Hyôgo Prefecture were described.
Wairakite occurs as a narrow vein (about 1 mm width) only in Palaeogene sedimentary formation (shale or siltstone) around intrusive granodiorite. From X-ray powder diffraction studies, wairakites found in above collecting sites have disordered tetragonal or pseudo-tetragonal structures. They are considered to have been formed at higher temperature than ordered ones (typical monoclinic wairakites).
