The term Vastuprativikalpavijnana used in the Lankavatarasutra has so far been regarded as the manovijnanas or seven pravrttivijnanas etc. However, it can be concluded from my investigation of the characteristics of its relevant terms as described in the Lankavatarasutra and the 『顕揚聖教論』 that the vastuprativikalpavijnana is therein given almost the same characteristics as those of the alayavijnana.
