Personal Telecommunication Service will be provided with the Intelligent Network (IN), in which location registration function and routing information translation function will be put in Service Control Points (SCPs). The SCP instructs the Service according to the service specification tailored by each service subscriber. About the realization of Personal Telecommunication Service across multiple networks in IN, network interworking must be clarified specially on location registration and routing information translation.
This paper discusses routing information translation from PTN (Personal Telecommunication Number) to routing address across multiple networks, For a functional aspect, 5 networks are needed for Personal Telecommunication Service on network facilities. Considering routing information translation, 7 translation and connection functions are essential. This paper proposes some routing information translation methods according to assignment of the routing functions to the networks described above. Furthermore, the features of the methods are summarized on the view points of the database access corresponding to subscribers' roaming, the influence of number structure, and the flexibilities of service control.
