Abstract

In the reflection and transmission problem of multilayers for a plane wave incidence, electromagnetic fields are expressed using forward and backward waves from the solutions of Helmholtz equation. However, when the propagation constant becomes zero, both waves degenerate and cannot be separated. This paper clears reflection, transmission and field distributions at a propagation constant of zero in the middle regions.
