Abstract

Recently, the improvement of a response time of Liquid Crystal Displays (LCDs) is required for high-definition LCD-TVs. Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamps (CCFLs) is using as backlights of LCDs, and phosphors with short decay time is needed for high response-time. However, it is problem that the green phosphor (LaPO4:Ce3+, Tb3+) has especially long decay time in commercial tri-color phosphors. Therefore, we study Tb3+-doped new green phosphors with short decay time. In this paper, luminescence properties of Tb3+-doped phosphor are reported.
