Abstract
The authors have been developing mercury-free fluorescent lamp, mainly for general lighting purpose (inside diameter of 26 mm), and enhancing its luminance and efficacy using auxiliary external electrode (AEE). In this study, for thinner lamp (inside diameter of 8.7 mm) with the AEE, the shape and the size of the inside electrodes were optimized. It is found that thinner and longer cathode (high voltage side) and thicker and shorter anode (ground side) are preferred when sleeve shape electrodes.
