Various simplified/streamlined assessment methods have been proposed in recognition that detailed assessments are costly, time consuming, and often limited in application. This study reviewed and categorized these methods in four research fields, LCA, risk assessment, environmental impact assessment, and policy evaluation, and discussed pros and cons of being simple and type of simplicity, as well as the use of assessment methods under different objectives.
