Abstract
The easiest method to operate, S. G. method (speciffic gravity method, temporary named) was taken place to examine the value of its practical usage for Determine Clay Content, which is convenient to determine clay content in molding sands by short cut at a plant.
At first, as an experiment, a test was roasted by and by from normal temperature to 900°C. At every 100°C, S. G. method and washing process were done to be compared measuring clay content by agency of ignition loss. Results become as below :
  1. S. G. method is done much easier than washing process at a plant.
  2. It is rather hard to determine exact.
  3. It is remarkable particularly that variation is different from kinds and condition of clay.
  4. The result of washing process shows numbers anyhow proportional to ignition loss.
