We propose an in-house coaxial cable transmission system that can coexist with the ISDB-T signals in the UHF band in order to use the baseband transmission system for digital broadcasts over FTTH in the nonoptical networks that our customers use. We specify the requirements of the transmission system, show that a Filter Bank Multi-Carrier (FBMC) method can satisfy these requirements and that this method has higher frequency usage efficiency than the OFDM methods. We also present a simple DC offset removal method in direct conversion receivers that is a combination of an RC high-pass filter and low-complexity signal processing in order to provide inexpensive receivers. This method reduces the BER degradation by equalization errors caused by the RC high-pass filter. A computer simulation revealed that a CNR improvement of more than 3 dB can be achieved using the proposed method.
