Abstract

We have developed a high-speed image file server for a super-high-resolution image display system that can transfer image data at a sustained rate of 24 MB/s. To achieve that data-transfer rate, we made a multidisk controller that can control multiple disk units in parallel. In this server, image data is read from disk units in the storage unit and sent to the display system over the high-speed data bus. We used two storage units for the high-speed image file server, and the measured data-transfer rate was 12 MB/s per storage unit giving a total of 24 MB/s.
