A 256x256 buried charge accumulator and sensing transistor array (BCAST) image sensor with on-chip motion processing and video circuits has been developed. The complete on-chip motion detection and the reproduction of high-quality images are performed simultaneously with per-column simple circuits. A 2 μm twin-tub CMOS process is used for its on-chip circuits. The dynamic range of 78.2dB and the FPN of 76dB at 60Frames/s have been achieved. Furthermore, high speed operations at 240Frames/s with a digital output are performed. The results will extend the application of motion sensing to fields requiring high quality images.
