Summary of the conference

Euro Display 99 was held from September 6 through 9, 1999 in Berlin. Since it was in Europe, there were many presentations on basic research rather than products. There were few presentations on organic LED that was a recent topic. But inorganic EL presentation was more popular than organic one. Keynote addresses were about liquid crystal material, TFT and PALC. Though activities in east Europe weren't usually heard very much, the status of the display development in east Europe was introduced this time, and it showed the characteristics of holding the conference in Europe.
