Abstract

Two types of information are acquired from pictures:"general information" and "specific detail information". By recognition tests with picutures containing a natural object, we tested the properties of short-term memory of category information as "general information" and pose information as "specific detail information". The results were as follows; 1)irrespective of the degree of task difficulty and the alternative of pose information, they showed different growth tendencies as a function of the processing time during encoding phase; 2)although category information was remembered correctly for a long time, pose information was forgotten in a few seconds.
