Abstract
This paper describes the development of 'MPEG2 Bitstream Processor' for Regional digital terrestrial television services. The most cost-effective solution is to distribute television signals by MPEG2 Transport Stream coded and multiplexed for emission via an ATM distribution network. The equipment performs seamless switching between network and local live programs, insertion of caption and audio mix on distributed MPEG2 television signals. It also transports closed caption signals and control signals(NET-Q) using ancillary data packets. Regional playout and transmission systems need the equipment to insert local programs and captions.
