Abstract
The multi-media environment requires broadcasters to provide viewers with attractive program content over a wide variety of services. We at NHK Tokyo have been broadcasting the programs using our highly reliable computer control system which enables precisely scheduled transmission on eleven individual channels around the clock. Our aim is to give extensive consideration to the stable management of the whole program transmission system, including the human factors in system operation as well as the facilities and structural aspects. In this report, we describe how the performance and reliability of the large-scale transmission control system can be improved. We also discuss an effective management method utilizing a human support system that enables engineers to help complicated operations in a large-scale computer control system fault.
