Recently, display devices using plastic substrates have attracted people's interests due to their many advantages over conventional display devices with glass substrate, such as flexibility, light weight, etc. But reliable process technologies for fabricating flexible displays have not been established yet. In this work, we study fabrication processes of liquid crystal displays (LCDs) using plastic substrates to develop flexible LCDs., and we succeed in fabricating a flexible VA-LCD, which shows comparable display performance to a VA-LCD using glass substrates.
