Progress report on development of Super Hi-Vision camera system

Abstract

This paper describes the research and development results on Super Hi-Vision system, which is expected to be the future television system with extremely enhanced sense of reality, including the progress of the demonstration test for broadcasting and the standardization of system parameters. Then, focusing on image pickup systems, the three 33M-pixel CMOS camera system currently being developed is introduced. Finally the direction of development and the technical issues to be solved are discussed for practical camera system.
