Abstract

Even though mobile payment systems can be regarded as two-sided platform services, whose users are both of retailers and their customers, little research has been done from the retailers' perspective so far. This research, using the Modified Grounded Theory Approach (M-GTA) and Trajectory Equifinality Approach (TEA), intends to present how small retail shop owners make decisions on adoption and continuous use of a QR code-based mobile payment system by diagrams and story lines. The significance of “Iji," a Japanese word representing feelings trying to push through one's resolution, emerged from the analysis, and the concept was discussed through reviewing existing papers and features of participant retail shop owners.
