An 84-year-old woman with back pain was carried to another hospital. Plain computed tomography (CT) showed posterior mediastinal hematoma. Furthermore, enhanced CT showed the suspicion of bleeding from the right intercostal artery. She was transferred to our hospital for treatment. Emergency angiography showed a pseudoaneurysm in the proximal right ninth intercostal artery, and arterial embolization was performed. Her postoperative course was uneventful. Endovascular therapy, rather than operative treatment, is a useful and less invasive option for pseudoaneurysm of the proximal intercostal artery.
