The quantitative analysis of O0, O- and O2- ions existing in MnO-SiO2 and ZnO-SiO2 glasses was carried out by ESCA (electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis). The ratio of O0 ion in MnO-SiO2 and ZnO-SiO2 glasses increased with the increase of SiO2 content. It was estimated that 33% and 67% of Si-O cluster existed in the form of Si2O76- and Si3O96-, respectively, in 60ZnO⋅40SiO2.
