We investigated the clinical outcomes and findings on repeat arthroscopy in patients who had undergone anatomical double-bundle anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction for hyperextended knees or general joint laxity. We classified 139 patients who were at least 1 year-postoperative and gave consent for repeat arthroscopy into two groups, namely, Laxity and Normal, according to the presence or absence of hyperextension or general joint laxity of the knees. Although there was no clear difference in the clinical outcomes between the two groups, the Laxity group showed significantly poorer findings for the posterolateral bundle. This suggests the need to review the surgical technique and rehabilitation protocols for hyperextended knees.
