The corrosion surveys of steel sheet piles at Hakodate, Muroran, Otaru, Rumoi, Nemuro and Kushiro in Hokkaido area have been carried out, and the following results were obtained.
(1) It was confirmed that the three kinds of corrosion tendencies of steel sheet piles, (a), (b) and (c), which were reported previously, were generated even at harbors in Hokkaido area.
(2) When the corrosion tendency of steel sheet piles (a) mentioned above was generated, in Larssen type, corrosion was concentrated only on the flat portion of convex steel sheet piles directly under L. W. L., while, in Terres Rouges type, concentrated corrosion was generated not only on the flat portion, but also on a part of the side portion of the convex steel sheet piles directly under L. W. L.
(3) Concentrated corrosion was likely to be generated on convex face directly under L. W. L., and their corrosion rates were 0.5 to 1.0mm/yr in the corrosion tendency (a) and 0.15 to 0.20mm/yr in the corrosion tendency (b).
(4) It was supposed that the corrosion tendencies of steel sheet piles depended extremely on water depth, but almost didn't depend on oil film floating on sea water, pollution of sea water, and others.
