This paper proposes a new construction for resource allocation problems. A resource allocation problem may be defined as a triplet (J, R, Φ), where J, R, and Φ are sets of jobs, resources and the allocation of R to J respectively. This paper shows that many kinds of resource allocation problems can be generated by giving various structures to sets J and R, and various restrictions to allocation Φ. One of the proposed resource allocation problems is solved by using a heuristic method. An example is also given where the problem was applied in the designing of an automatic warehouse system.
