Vertical coordination has contributed substantially to the development of Korea's broiler industry. However the content of the contracts used is being criticized because of its subordinate characteristics and conflicts between farmers and integrator.
The aim of this paper is to shed light on the broiler's production contracts used by the Korean Agricultural Cooperatives with absolute standard system as well as to clarify its economy and problems faced. Therefore, in this article these topics are discussed as follows: (1) the concept of vertical coordination & vertical integration in the livestock industry through literature review, (2) the outline & overview of broiler industry and production contracts in Korea, (3) the analysis of broiler integration structure of the company M, a subsidiary of the National Agricultural Cooperatives Federation (4) the perspective of the Agricultural Cooperative's production contracts in Korea in connection with the payment system.
