Geological Structure of Iwo-jima Surveyed by Means of Electric Prospecting Method

Abstract

The electric prospecting was performed in March 1975 and again in August 1978 to survey the geological structure of Iwo-jima. The following results were obtained :
1) The survey in March 1975 revealed apparent resistivity of gland surface at 5000Ω.cm in the Motoyama area, which is the central part of Iwo-jima ;
2) The low mesurement of 5000 Ω -cm is equivalent to that of Alluvial plain. This measurement was found to persist as far as 100 m below sea-level.
