The number of private lodgings in Japan has been rapidly increasing as more vacationers choose to visit Japan. The purpose of our work was to investigate the state of hygiene of private lodgings. This study examined the distribution and temporal changes of concentrations of airborne mold and adhesive mold. As a result, concentrations of adhesive mold varied greatly depending on sites. The corners of the rooms showed higher levels of the concentration of adhesive mold compared to the other areas. The buildings where the owner lived in had lower hygiene levels than those where the owner did not live in.
