Abstract

A special protection nursing home serves as a place of life for protection-necessary senior citizens who are unable to live their life in their own houses due to their mental and physical disabilities. It is necessary not only to give them careful nursing but also to assist them in order to keep their quality of life. For that purpose, the care staff need actively do their duties without feeling any stress. To ensure that, there should be an appropriate supervision. In this study, I had a group interview with 18 staff members of two special protection nursing homes and made clear that what is necessary to be done in supervision as an educational function and a supportive function. After the group interview, there came out the contents of their duties, their thought about their work, their anxieties about themselves, their dissatisfaction with their workplace, their worries, etc. As a result, what the supervisors should do was made clear.
