Thirteen children with mass lesion in the neck, which were managed in our Department during the past three years (November 1981 to October 1984), were surveyed. These masses included 6 inflammatory lesions (4 phlegmones, 1 lymphadenitis, 1 lymphadenitis coli tuberculosa), 5 congenital cysts (4 thyroglossal duct cyst, 1 branchiogenic cyst), one dermoid cyst and one benign tumor (lipoma). Diagnosis and treatment of mass lesions in the neck of young patients were discussed.
