In a 31-year-old man who complained of sore throat chronic tonsillitis was diagnosed, because right tonsillar swelling was noted without any specific laboratory findings. However, a final diagnosis of acute leukemia was made when marked leukocytosis was found 16 days after the first medical examination. In this case, a specific type of acute leukemia was manifested by nonspecific tonsillar hypertrophy.
