We experienced a case of cat scratch disease in the parotid gland. A 32-year-old woman complained of a left parotid mass after unsuccessful treatment with antibiotics. Preoperatively, a parotid tumor was suspected and the tumor removal was performed.
The resected tissue was a lymph node and subsequent histopathological examination revealed the typical change of cat scratch disease. Cat scratch disease, caused by scratches and bites by cats, resulting in lymph node enlargement in the neck, should be taken into account in the differential diagnosis of parotid masses.
Taking the history is important to diagnose this infectious disease.
