Of studied 2,360 subjects with facial nerve disease between 1995 and 2009, 64% were diagnosed with Bell's palsy (BP), Ramsay Hunt syndrome (RHS) and Zoster sine herpete (ZSH). RSH and ZSH were less cumulatively curable than BP. Nerve palsy treatment results did not differ among the therapies.
Among the 137 with bilateral and recurrent facial palsy, the age at first episode of those with bilateral recurrent palsy was younger than those with the bilateral alternative, ipsilateral recurrent, or bilateral simultaneous palsy.
Women outnumbered men by three times among those with hemi facial spasm.
