Abstract
There have been many investigations on manufacture of metallurgical coke for blast furnace, making use of low-caking: non-caking and brown coals etc.as main raw materials.Nevertheless, it has been not successful to produce good metallur-gical coke from these poorly caking coals by making them main raw materials.
In this study, the results of prolonged experiments on this sudject will be reported. The present paper consists of a part of fundamental researches and its contents are as follows.
Firstly, it was examined that the bripuetting pressure influences upon the caking power of coal and the qualities of coke produced.Secondly, the behavior of raw briquette during the carbonization has been traced from three points of view ;swelling grade, evolution conditions of decomposed gas and micro-structure of briquette coke.
