Since there are many hydroxyl groups on the surface of the cellulosic chain, it is difficult to knead cellulose nanofiber (CNF) with hydrophobic resins. We have proposed a novel lignin composite cellulosic fibers prepared based on absorption of lignin-alkaline solution and the following acidification. In this study, we applied this method into CNF to construct hydrophobic CNF suitable for resin reinforcing materials. The lignin composite ratio was controlled by changing the concentration of lignin in alkaline solution. The ratio was improved as the lignin concentration increases. The ratio of CNF-lignin composites is much higher than that of NBKP-lignin composites due to the heavy fibrillation of cellulosic fibers by physical treatments. We succeeded in compositing three times as much lignin to CNF than to NBKP with 20 % of lignin concentration.
