On the Opportunity of Editing the Special Issue of Hokkaido Branch(<Special Issue>Great Lighting Up the Night over Northern Cities in Hokkaido, Japan)

Abstract

42nd Annual Conference of the Illuminating Engineering Institute of Japan (IEIJ) will be held at Hokkaido Institute of Technology, Teine, Sapporo. This is 3rd occasion such conference to be held in Hokkaido area, 1st and 2nd at Hokkaido University, this time at Hokkaido Institute of Technology, little western in location from city center of Sapporo. In addition, 2nd Lighting Symposium organized by Three nations of Japan, China and Korea will be also co-held with the conference. I will describe in the special issue about the illumination plan of the G-building of Hokkaido Institute of Technology where the conference will be held and famous northern illumination events in Sapporo, Teine and Otaru area: Sapporo White Illumination・Otaru Snow Light Path・Teine Summer Light Festival and also introduce some of awarded articles in Hokkaido Branch Recommendations, and, in addition, review some recent research works related LEDs applications and some respective university laboratories.
