Abstract

Small-scale offices (office buildings with an area of 3,000 m^2 or less) comprise more than 80% of the total office floor area in Japan. Small offices, however, generally lack a system for vigorously implementing appropriate replacement of lighting equipment. Thus, unless this sector adopts appropriate replacement practices, Japan could not fully achieve its national CO_2 reduction goals. To promote appropriate replacement of lighting equipment in small offices, here we present a detailed lighting design model plan that will show energy consumption changes after and CO_2 reduction benefits of lighting replacement and will serve as reference for initial consideration of appropriate replacement of lighting equipment in small offices.
