Luminous intensity of a fluorescent lamp lighted under A. C. changes with periodicity depending upon the voltage wave form and at the same time its hue also varies regulary.
In the measurement of this effect, photographic photometry was employed, for it permits the obtained data to be preserved for a considerable length of time and repeatedly available for comparative inspection at any time. The results show that under wave length in the range 400-500mμ the curve will be plotted as in Fig 6; when wave length is shorter than 500mμ, it will be like Fig. 7.
