Abstract

Removal of heavy metals such as Pb, Cu, Zn, and Mn in municipal solid waste fly ash by chloride volatilization process was conducted in this work. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) was used as a chlorination agent, and the effects of PVC addition on the removal of target heavy metals were investigated for several kinds of fly ash samples which consist of different element composition. The present work revealed that PVC enhanced the removal of all target heavy metals, while it had negative effect on the removal of Pb and Cu from the Br-containing fly ash.
