Abstract

A high frequency power supply for an ultrasonic homogenizer enabling great reduction of NOx is developed. The zero current switching operation region which is necessary for circuit design from the point of view of the soft switching is numerically analized in associated with normalized frequency and load. The distributions of the peak voltage and current of the switches are elucidated in the normalized zero current switching operation region. On the basis of the numerical analysis, the high power high frequency power supply is designed and water-in-A heavy oil emulsion is made by driving the ultrasonic homogenizer. From the experimental results, a remarkable reduction of NOx is realized on the combustion of the emulsion in the diesel engine.
