We investigated the current setting cases of buffer zone described in the tsunami hazard map, and examined the possibility of buffer zone setting considering the uncertainty of tsunami fault model. We found that the buffer zones are set in various ways according to the actual situation of each area. By conducting the tsunami numerical simlation considering uncertainty of the fault model, we knew that the buffer zone of Hiratsuka City is the area having about + 0.15 Mw uncertainty from the base Mw, which is the basis of tsunami hazard map. We showed that it is necessary to consider the result of tsunami numerical simulation considering the uncertainty of numerical prediction in addition to the original standard for each municipality in setting the buffer zone of the tsunami hazard map.
