The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of lessons on consumer consciousness for junior high school students. We developed the materials for consumer lecture and practical application of making shorts using traditional cotton fabrics. The students were divided into two groups. The students in group A were given a lecture on consumer awareness before they tried making shorts. The students in group B did the opposite. We compared the consumer consciousness between two groups. We carried out the questionnaire consisted of four parts; “care”, “production process”, “environment” and “tradition”. The result shows that the consciousness of the students at the end of the lesson in group A was higher than that of students in group B. Group A has maintained the consciousness that has gotten higher through the consumer lecture and practical application.
