The electric field required for the transformation of the melting state of langasite from incongruent into congruent was quantitatively evaluated based on the inverse process of the energy relationship between associated phases. The evaluation result demonstrated that the required electric field was on the order of 10^4-10^5V/cm. This was significantly higher than the external electric field of 600V/cm, which was experimentally observed. This large difference was attributed to the possibility that nucleation occurred in the electric double layer where the potential could drop and a very large electric field could be sustained.
