Abstract
An efficient product definition system for ship design and manufacturing is studied here. A main objectives in this paper is to implement a design system for stem and stern part of ship structure.
In this system, some types of functions are implemented.
1) In order to describe hull form including stem and stern part of ship, bicubic spline surfaces are introduced.
2) Room division function which can be applicable to curved surfaces is introduced. This room division function is usually used for design of general arrangement.
3) In order to design internal structures inside room to sustain walls, “ROSE” concept is introduced. Some kinds of standard structures are prepared in this system.
4) Block cutting function is also implemented for cutting curved surfaces.
Some examples are shown here. Not only geometrical information but also attribute information is considered in this system just like the papers which were already proposed.
