This study aimed to clarify how increased shooting distance affects mechanical energy flow during one-hand jump shots performed by female basketball players. Thirteen skilled female athletes executed one-hand jump shots under three distance conditions: Short (4.23m), Middle (5.49m), and Long (6.75m). Kinematic and kinetic data were collected using a motion capture system and force platforms. Joint power and joint force were analyzed, with a focus on energy transfer from the lower limbs to the shooting arm. The results showed that mechanical energy transfer via joint forces increased with shooting distance. The energy flow followed a distal-to-proximal pattern in the lower limbs and a proximal-to-distal pattern in the shooting arm. From the Short to Middle, the mechanical energy generated by elbow joint torque increased, but remained unchanged from Middle to Long. In contrast, the energy generated by the knee and shoulder joints remained unchanged from Short to Middle, but increased from Middle to Long. Additionally, under the Long, players adopted a more extended shoulder posture and a more flexed knee posture, likely to increase the ball’s acceleration distance. These findings suggest that skilled female players may compensate for the increased shooting distance by increasing energy generation at the knee and shoulder joints.
