Abstract
Mono-restituted digital orthophotographs, 77 sheets in Fukumitsu and 203 sheets in Himi district, were made using 1/10, 000 scale color aerophotographs, 1/2, 500 and 1/5, 000 scale topographic maps, published DEMs and a GIS software. Making accurate orthophotographs to satisfy the Japanese Forestry Agency's standard for ortho rectified photo maps was possible repeating rectification and GCP modification at most 9 times at Fukumitsu and 4 times at Himi. Efficiency of obtaining the first GCPs was 9.4 and 12.8 points per hour at Fukumitsu and Himi respectively. Rectification with 50 m mesh and 10 m mesh DEM did not make any difference in the average GCP residuals of the rectified orthophotographs. Rectification with 20 target points and 10 target points for the first GCPs did make difference, however about 10 points were supposed to be enough considering to the operation efficiency.
