Safety Confirmation of Elderly People by Monitoring Home Electric Appliances Using Magnetic Resistance Sensor

In recent years, Japanese has been faced with an increasingly aging society, which has resulted in problems such as a lack of care workers and an increasing number of elderly people living alone. These problems are anticipated getting more serious by cabinet office of Japan. It will be hard for elderly people to receive care. Here, we propose a system for confirmation of the safety of elderly people. In this system, we can infer the safety of elder from operating home electric appliances by using the proposed system with a magnetic resistance sensor. When the home electric appliance is operating, a magnetic field is produced around its supply cable by the current passing through the supply cable. The magnetic resistance sensor detects the magnetic field. Herewith, the proposed system detects operating the home electric appliances and monitors the operations. From the operational status of the home electric appliances, we can confirm the safety of elderly people.
