抄録
1.Cryptococcus neoformans was isolated from not only pigeon excreta but also from nine different species of avian excreta, These isolates showed similar virulence in mice to that of the isolates from human cryptococcosis.
2.The spontaneous infections of Cryptococcus neoformans in pigeon was not npted, and also the experimental infection could not be succeeded in pigeon by intravenous inoculation of the organism.
3.The growth of Cryptococcus neoformans was inhibited by heat, partially at 40°C for 3 hours and completely at more than 50°C for 10 minutes.
4.Following the results of this experimen, the existence of the virulent organism in avian excreta including pigeon excreta may be considered as one of the important sources of infection in human cryptococcosis.
